Arts Camp 2025: A Week to Remember

Arts Camp 2025: A Week to Remember

by Erick Flores, Ministry Apprentice

At Arts Camp a few weeks ago, we had over 100 students and volunteers in our building! If you’ve been inside our building, you can only imagine how cramped it can get on a regular program night. But what might sound like a headache filled me with complete joy. I had the privilege of leading this year’s Arts Camp with the help of Kristina Munoz, our Children's Ministry Manager. She and I worked together to coordinate volunteers, classes, and tackle any roadblocks that came our way. A personal highlight for me was putting on our Arts Camp T-shirts and taking a group picture!

We had such a blast on the last day of camp. It was so fun seeing each class present their project for the year. We ended the week with a carnival and a surprise guest—Blue, Sporting KC’s mascot! The kids absolutely loved Blue. I even became a professional photographer for the day, filling my camera roll with pictures of our kids posing with him. Blue did an amazing job getting everyone hyped for the carnival!

God always provides what we need to make Arts Camp memorable—not just for us volunteers, but for the kids as well. Thanks to the generous heart of Christ Community, we received a $2,000 donation, which was a huge help in funding this year’s camp. Some members of Christ Community also volunteered to lead classes and build meaningful relationships with our kids.

It was truly an honor to lead this year’s Arts Camp. It was a huge success, and I cannot wait to do it all again next year! Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who made it possible.
