A New Trimester at Mission Adelante

By Yanelis Lopez, Ministry Director

A new trimester at Mission Adelante begins with excitement and anticipation for everything that will be happening in the coming months. Although now everything looks a little different, the illusion and hope are still alive. Nothing could stop our mission at KCK. God has sustained us in the midst of the storm!

The healthy interaction between participants and volunteers is something that we place a lot of emphasis on. We want the different “worlds” and cultures that converge in our programs to get to know each other and learn in many ways. Our wish is that children, youth, and adults find in Mission Adelante a family. We hope they find a community from which they can receive support all mutually contribute.

Volunteers play a fundamental role in our mission, we always recognize it because the truth is that we could not do anything that we do today without your support. Interacting with other cultures is always difficult and very interesting. We are all together on that journey. Here I share four tips that can be helpful while serving with us at Mission Adelante:

Learn from each participant.

  • Learn to love other cultures, not judge them

  • Be patient

  • Build friendships outside of programs

See you all soon!

Over this year, we will be diving more into each one of these tips from Yanelis Lopez to help you maximize your impact. Stay tuned!
