A Grateful Farewell
by Andrea Cabrera, Refugee Services Case Manager
Staff at MCI heading towards Portland, OR for CCDA!
As my time at Mission Adelante comes to an end, I find myself reflecting on the many lessons I have learned and the amazing people I have met. When I first started, I never could have imagined what an eventful and chaotic year it would be. I also never could have imagined how much the Lord would grow me—or how deeply I would grow to love the people I served and worked alongside.

As a 20-year-old straight out of college, I was both excited and grateful for the opportunity to begin my career in something I had always dreamed of, and at a place making a real difference in the immigrant community. Throughout the year, I’ve learned what it means to serve your community and to be the hands and feet of Jesus within our city in a way I had never experienced before.

I’ve also seen firsthand how our families have built a life for themselves and continue to excel in everything they do. Being part of their milestones this year has been such a blessing and a testament to the Lord's kindness.
One of my favorite parts of my time at Mission Adelante has been getting to know our volunteers and witnessing how people from all backgrounds are united for the same cause: welcoming the foreigner (Leviticus 19:33–34). As this chapter closes and another begins, I am deeply thankful and excited to see how the Lord continues to use Mission Adelante for His glory.
Prayer Requests:
Pray for the Mission Adelante staff and volunteers—that the Lord would continue to grow them in their faith and that their ministries would keep impacting the community.
Pray for program participants and refugee families.
Pray that the church would continue to recognize new ways to serve their neighbors.
