A Letter from the Heart: Seasons of Change and Gratitude

Dear Mission Adelante Family,
Four years ago, I stepped into the Children’s Ministry Director role with a heart full of faith and a simple prayer: Señor, úsame para amar bien a los ñiños. I remember the day I accepted the offer, I was nervous and scared, but honestly excited for what God was going to do in and through me.
Since then, I’ve had the honor of watching your children grow. Not just spiritually, but academically, emotionally, and in confidence. Looking back now, I see how God used this season to shape me, stretch me, and show me His steady faithfulness over and over again. From Thursday royal ball parties at Kids Adelante, to Arts Camp madness, to holding a child close as they cried, I’ve witnessed God’s love in motion through these incredible kids and families. You all trusted me with your children’s spiritual formation and academic journeys and I’m humbled beyond words.
To every parent who trusted me with your children: muchas gracias. Thank you for allowing me to walk alongside your family, teach your kids about Jesus, help them with homework, pray over them and laugh with them. Your trust has been a gift to me and your children have truly blessed my life.
Now, I feel the Lord calling me into a new season, one I believe He has been preparing me for all along. I will be stepping into the role of Partner Engagement Director, where I’ll focus on building relationships with new partners, churches, and supporters, and inviting more people into the mission God is writing here at Mission Adelante. My passion for sharing stories and connecting people to this work has only grown, and I feel God’s peace as I step forward.
As I transition out, I am thrilled to share that Kristina Munoz-Flores will be taking over children’s ministry. Kristina is not just capable, she is called. Her creativity, patience, and deep love for kids is evident in everything she does. I’ve seen her get on the floor, look a child in the eyes, and reflect Jesus’ love in the most genuine way. I am confident our children’s ministry will continue to flourish in her hands.
Transitions can be bittersweet. Llenas de lágrimas, gratitud, y expectativa. But, I truly believe God has prepped me “for such a time as this.” And I’m grateful to continue serving mi comunidad in a new way.
As we reflect on all that God has done over the past 20 years and look forward to what’s ahead, I would love to invite you to join us for our SHINE Gala on September 18 at 6:00 PM. This special evening will celebrate 20 years of ministry at Mission Adelante, honoring stories like your children’s, stories of transformation, belonging, and hope.
It would mean the world to me to see you there, celebrating the past and dreaming about the future together.
