Opportunity

Choosing your area of Passion is your first step in volunteering with Mission Adelante. Please choose the area you feel most drawn to and email or call the staff person responsible. You can expect a return phone call and the opportunity for a one-on-one meeting to discuss how you might be able to put your gifts and talents to work "Serving Hispanic immigrants to Christ and mobilizing them to Serve".

Volunteer

  • English As a Second Language-For Adults
As a volunteer conversation partner in our Adult ESL program you make a huge impact just by speaking English and building a friendship. We structure our ESL class sessions so all you have to do is show up. You don’t even have to speak Spanish to be effective in this role!

  • Kids Adelante-Ages 5-12
This program for kids ages 5-12 currently includes an outreach Bible study and occasional Saturday activities. In the future we hope to develop tutoring and character development components to this ministry. As a volunteer you can make a difference in the lives of a small group of kids by helping to lead a small bible study group on Thursday nights or by helping pioneer our tutoring or character development programs.

  • Resource Center
The Resource Center provides resources for immigrant families through securing donations of new and lightly used items through a network of churches. The purpose of this ministry is to demonstrate the love of Christ through relationship and giving to meet specific physical and material needs of immigrants. We need to fill some ongoing volunteer positions, such as pickup and deliver, sorting and inventory, and “staffing” when we are open for drop-ins. If you are interested in volunteering with Mission Adelante’s Resource Center, please contact Seth Sears at 913.568.9280 or at seths@missionadelante.org.

  • Skilled and unskilled labor
“Operation Resurrection” is changing our former funeral home into a place where Hispanic immigrants are finding new life in Christ. We are in need of individuals and small groups who are interested in helping us with the remodel of our facility. We welcome skilled laborers with backgrounds in framing, electrical, plumbing, painting and other trades. In addition, we can use unskilled laborers to help us with general labor and demolition. Interested?

  • Special Skills Team
If you have a special skill like graphic design, website development, administrative gifts, or something unique, we need your talents.
